Social Mallard is the professional blog home of Kevin Briody, a marketer with more than 14 years experience, mostly spent in the technology field working on the client-side for companies ranging from a tiny startup to the not-so-tiny Microsoft. I’m currently the Director of Digital Strategy at Pace Communications, and recently the Director of Strategic Innovation at Ignite Social Media. I’ve been lucky enough to get to work on major brands such as Verizon Wireless, Four Seasons, Samsung, Microsoft, Nike, Disney Interactive, and Quest Diagnostics.
This blog covers the side of marketing that I most enjoy, and where I’ve fortunately spent the bulk of my career: the intersection of traditional marketing and community engagement, with a side order of social media, that is changing the way companies of all sizes shape their marketing strategies. My interest is less on the bubble and more on the practical, so hopefully you’ll see that reflected in the content here.
Why “Social Mallard?” It was, and remains, the official name of my one-man consulting LLC. I followed the strict and ever-so-common branding principal of “adjective and/or color + animal = perfect agency name” to create it, helped along by the fact I’m an Oregon Duck alumni and rather obnoxiously vocal about it.
